Scale
1.5 lbs ground beef
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 egg
1/4 cup BBQ sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup BBQ sauce, for topping
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, rolled oats, chopped onion, egg, 1/4 cup BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
Shape the mixture into 6 patties.
Place the patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil.
In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining 1/4 cup BBQ sauce, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar.
Spread this topping mixture evenly over the top of each burger patty.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the burgers are cooked through and the sauce is bubbly.
Serve hot.
Notes
For a make-ahead freezer meal, prepare the patties and freeze them on a baking sheet until solid. Then, transfer them to a freezer-safe container or bag. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight and bake as directed, adding a few extra minutes to the cook time if needed.
These burgers are delicious served on buns with your favorite toppings.
