Ingredients
Scale
1 gallon apple cider
1 gallon apple juice
3 cups granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
1/2 cup whole cloves
1 (750 ml) bottle Everclear (190 proof)
1/2 cup apple pie spice
Instructions
In a large pot or slow cooker, combine apple cider, apple juice, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, and whole cloves.
Heat the mixture over medium heat on the stovetop, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. If using a slow cooker, set it to low and cook for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.
Once the sugar is dissolved, remove from heat (or turn off slow cooker) and let the mixture steep for at least 1 hour.
Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the spices. Discard the spices.
Stir in the apple pie spice.
Allow the mixture to cool completely.
Once cooled, carefully stir in the Everclear.
Pour the apple pie moonshine into clean mason jars, leaving some headspace. Seal tightly.
Store in a cool, dark place. The moonshine can be consumed immediately but will develop more flavor after a few weeks.
Notes
For a smoother flavor, you can let the moonshine age for a few weeks before consuming.
This recipe makes a strong alcoholic beverage. Drink responsibly.
Consider labeling your jars with the ingredients and a “Best By” date for gifting.
This makes a great homemade gift in a jar for the holidays.
