Ingredients
Scale
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1–2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Unfold the puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface. Cut it into 4 equal rectangles.
In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Place about 2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture onto the center of each puff pastry rectangle.
Score the edges of the pastry around the filling, then fold the edges inward to create a border, leaving the center exposed. You can gently pinch the corners to secure.
Place the danishes on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
While the danishes are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl until you reach a smooth, drizzly consistency for the glaze.
Once the danishes are out of the oven, let them cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack.
Drizzle the vanilla glaze over the warm danishes. Serve immediately.
Notes
For a fruit variation, add a spoonful of your favorite fruit preserves (like cherry, raspberry, or apricot) on top of the cream cheese filling before baking.
Ensure your puff pastry is fully thawed but still cold for the best flaky layers.
You can make the cream cheese filling ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator.
