Ingredients
Scale
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
1/4 cup finely chopped jalapeño, seeds removed for less heat
1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 teaspoon orange zest
Salt to taste
Crackers or baguette slices for serving
Instructions
In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, cilantro, red onion, and jalapeño. Mix well until evenly combined.
Press the cream cheese mixture into the bottom of a small serving dish or pie plate.
In a small saucepan, combine the cranberries, sugar, and orange juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
Stir in the orange zest and salt. Let the cranberry mixture cool slightly.
Pour the cranberry mixture over the cream cheese base.
Chill the dip for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Serve with your favorite crackers or baguette slices.
Notes
For a milder dip, remove all seeds and membranes from the jalapeño.
This dip can be made a day in advance and stored covered in the refrigerator.
Garnish with extra cilantro or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for added color and heat.
Consider this dip as a flavorful alternative to traditional Thanksgiving sides, much like a well-planned meal delivery service offers variety.
