Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional toppings: whipped cream, marshmallows, chocolate shavings, cinnamon sticks

Instructions

  1. In your slow cooker, whisk together cocoa powder, sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  2. Stir in the milk, heavy cream, and vanilla extract.
  3. Cook on low for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally, until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is hot.
  4. Stir in the chocolate chips until fully melted and smooth.
  5. Serve hot, with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use a combination of milk and half-and-half.
  • Add a splash of peppermint extract for a minty twist.
  • For a boozy version, stir in a shot of your favorite liqueur per serving.
  • Keep warm on the ‘warm’ setting for parties.
