Ingredients
Scale
1 (15-ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Optional: 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
Optional: 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper for spice
Instructions
Place the rinsed and drained black beans, lime juice, olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper into a food processor.
Process the ingredients until the dip is completely smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed.
If using, add cilantro and cayenne pepper and pulse a few times to incorporate them lightly. Do not over-process if you want texture from the cilantro.
Taste the dip and adjust salt or lime juice if necessary.
Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Serve immediately with tortilla chips or vegetables.
Notes
For a thicker dip, reduce the lime juice slightly.
If you do not have a food processor, you can mash the beans well with a fork and then vigorously whisk in the remaining ingredients until smooth. This method takes longer but still works for a low effort dip.
This dip is a great plant based appetizer option for game day.
