Welcome! I’m Sarah, and I’m so happy you’re here. Master this stunning, no-cook Spicy Ahi Tuna Tartare in just 20 minutes. This restaurant-style appetizer uses sushi-grade fish and a fiery Asian marinade, perfect for impressing guests or enjoying a luxurious light meal at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb sushi-grade Ahi Tuna, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha (adjust for desired heat)
  • 1/2 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup scallions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds
  • For Avocado Cream: 1 ripe avocado, mashed; 1 tablespoon lime juice; pinch of salt
  • For Serving: Crispy wonton chips or crackers

Instructions

  1. Prepare the avocado cream: In a small bowl, combine the mashed avocado, lime juice, and salt. Mix until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the tuna: In a medium bowl, combine the finely diced sushi-grade Ahi Tuna, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, sriracha, and rice vinegar.
  3. Gently fold the ingredients together until the tuna is evenly coated with the marinade. Avoid overmixing to keep the texture firm.
  4. Stir in the sliced scallions and black sesame seeds.
  5. To serve, place a ring mold on your serving plate. Spoon a layer of the seasoned tuna mixture into the mold and press lightly.
  6. Carefully remove the mold. Top the tuna with a dollop of the avocado cream.
  7. Serve immediately with crispy wonton chips for scooping.

Notes

  • You must use sushi-grade or sashimi-grade tuna for this recipe since it is served raw. Quality ingredients make this gourmet appetizer shine.
  • For a stunning presentation, you can layer the tartare and avocado cream in a tall glass or use a ring mold to create a Tuna Napoleon Tower.
  • If you like a brighter flavor, add 1 teaspoon of fresh lime juice directly to the tuna mixture before serving.
