You will make the ultimate fudgy, chewy, chocolatey brownies packed with whole and crushed Oreo cookies. This homemade Oreo brownie recipe is easy to make and delivers a gorgeous, shiny, crackly crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 12 Oreo cookies, roughly chopped, plus 6 whole cookies for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9 inch metal baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides for easy removal. Lightly grease the paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Remove from heat.
  3. Whisk the granulated sugar and brown sugar into the melted butter until combined.
  4. Whisk in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients and whisk until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the flour and the chocolate chips.
  7. Fold in the 12 roughly chopped Oreo cookies.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  9. Place the 6 whole Oreo cookies evenly spaced on top of the batter.
  10. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. The edges should look set, and a toothpick inserted near the center should come out with moist, fudgy crumbs attached, not wet batter.
  11. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before lifting them out using the parchment overhang.
  12. Cut into squares and serve your decadent chocolate dessert treats.

Notes

  • For the best crackly top, do not overbake. The residual heat will finish cooking them as they cool.
  • You can substitute Double Stuf Oreos for extra cookie flavor.
  • If you want to make Mint Oreo Brownies, substitute regular Oreos with Mint Oreos.
