A timeless and comforting green bean casserole recipe, perfect for holiday gatherings and family dinners. This easy-to-make dish features tender green beans in a creamy sauce, topped with crispy fried onions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (10.5 oz each) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) cut green beans, drained
  • 1 can (6 oz) French fried onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, and black pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Add the drained green beans to the soup mixture and stir to coat evenly.
  4. Pour the mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes.
  6. Remove the casserole from the oven and top evenly with the French fried onions.
  7. Return to the oven and bake for another 5-10 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
  8. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can use half-and-half instead of milk.
  • Add a pinch of garlic powder or onion powder to the soup mixture for extra flavor.
  • To make ahead, assemble the casserole (without the fried onions) and refrigerate. Add the onions just before baking and increase the baking time by a few minutes.
  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free condensed cream of mushroom soup and gluten-free fried onions.
  • Consider adding cooked bacon bits or shredded cheddar cheese for a cheesy, bacon-infused twist.
