Ingredients
Scale
1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch strips
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/2 cup honey
2 tablespoons hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or set your air fryer to 380°F (195°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly spray the air fryer basket.
Set up a dredging station: Place flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder in a shallow dish. In a second dish, place the beaten eggs. In a third dish, place the panko breadcrumbs.
Dredge each chicken tender first in the flour mixture, shaking off excess. Dip it into the egg, letting excess drip off. Finally, press firmly into the panko breadcrumbs to coat completely.
Place the coated tenders on the prepared baking sheet or in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch.
Bake for 18-22 minutes, flipping halfway through, or air fry for 12-15 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the coating is golden brown and crisp.
While the chicken cooks, prepare the glaze: In a small saucepan, combine the honey, hot sauce, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Heat over medium-low heat until just simmering, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat.
Once the tenders are cooked, immediately toss them gently in the warm hot honey glaze until coated.
Serve immediately.
Notes
For extra crispiness in the oven, lightly spray the coated tenders with cooking spray before baking.
If using an air fryer, cook in batches to maintain crispness.
Adjust the amount of hot sauce or red pepper flakes to control the spice level of your glaze.
