Make soft, fluffy Oreo Cinnamon Rolls swirled with a rich chocolate-cinnamon filling and topped with a dreamy cream cheese glaze. This indulgent breakfast treat is perfect for weekend baking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (17.3 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup finely crushed Oreo cookies (about 8 cookies)
  • 1/4 cup black cocoa powder (or regular unsweetened cocoa powder)
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup crushed Oreo cookies (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface. Press the seams together to form one large rectangle.
  2. Make the filling: In a medium bowl, mix the softened 1/2 cup butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, 1/2 cup crushed Oreos, and cocoa powder until combined into a paste.
  3. Spread the filling: Evenly spread the filling mixture over the entire surface of the dough rectangle, leaving a small border on one long edge.
  4. Roll the dough: Starting from the long edge opposite the border, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam closed.
  5. Slice the rolls: Use unflavored dental floss or a sharp knife to cut the log into 12 equal rolls. Place the rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. First rise: Cover the dish loosely with plastic wrap and let the rolls rise in a warm spot for 30 to 45 minutes, or until they look puffy.
  7. Preheat and bake: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Brush the tops of the rolls lightly with the melted butter. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Make the glaze: While the rolls bake, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract together until smooth and creamy. This makes the best cream cheese frosting.
  9. Glaze and serve: Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately pour the cream cheese glaze evenly over the hot rolls. Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup crushed Oreos. Let them cool slightly before serving your gooey cinnamon rolls.

Notes

  • For extra soft rolls, cover the pan with foil for the first 10 minutes of baking, then remove the foil to brown the tops.
  • If you do not have black cocoa powder, regular unsweetened cocoa powder works, but the color will be less dark.
  • You can use store-bought cinnamon rolls and simply add the Oreo filling mixture for a quicker version.
