Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 12 small corn or flour tortillas
  • For the Creamy Garlic Lime Crema:
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • For the Slaw Topping:
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage mix
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the shrimp marinade: In a medium bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Add the 1/4 cup lime juice and 1/4 cup chopped cilantro. Mix well and let it marinate for 10 minutes while you prepare the crema and slaw.
  2. Make the Creamy Garlic Lime Crema: In a small bowl, whisk together the sour cream, mayonnaise, minced garlic, 1 tablespoon lime juice, and 1/4 teaspoon salt until smooth. Set aside.
  3. Prepare the Slaw: In another bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, 1/4 cup cilantro, 1 tablespoon lime juice, and 1 tablespoon olive oil. Toss to coat. Set aside.
  4. Cook the shrimp: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated shrimp in a single layer (cook in batches if necessary to avoid crowding). Cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Do not overcook.
  5. Warm the tortillas: Warm the tortillas according to package directions, either briefly on a dry skillet or wrapped in a damp paper towel in the microwave.
  6. Assemble the tacos: Fill each warm tortilla with a portion of the cooked shrimp. Top generously with the creamy garlic lime crema and the fresh slaw. Serve immediately for a fast, satisfying meal.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to the shrimp marinade.
  • You can substitute the slaw ingredients with pre-shredded coleslaw mix to save prep time.
  • If you prefer Air Fryer Shrimp Tacos, toss the marinated shrimp with 1 teaspoon of cornstarch before air frying at 380°F for 6-8 minutes.
