Cook a tender and moist turkey breast using your slow cooker. This easy recipe frees up your oven and delivers flavorful results for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (3 to 5 lb) boneless or bone-in turkey breast
  • 1 cup chicken broth or water
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter

Instructions

  1. Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels. Rub the entire surface with olive oil or melted butter.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the thyme, rosemary, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle this seasoning mix evenly over the turkey breast.
  3. Pour the chicken broth or water into the bottom of your slow cooker.
  4. Place the seasoned turkey breast into the slow cooker, skin-side up if possible.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4 to 6 hours, or on HIGH for 2.5 to 3.5 hours. Cooking time depends on the size of the breast.
  6. The turkey is done when an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part reads 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  7. Carefully remove the turkey breast from the slow cooker and let it rest on a cutting board, loosely tented with foil, for 10 minutes before slicing.
  8. Use the liquid remaining in the slow cooker to make a simple gravy, if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add sliced onions or carrots beneath the turkey breast in the slow cooker.
  • If you prefer a crispier skin, transfer the cooked turkey breast to a baking sheet and broil it for 3 to 5 minutes after resting, watching carefully to prevent burning.
  • This recipe works well for both boneless and bone-in turkey breasts; adjust cooking time slightly for bone-in cuts.
