Ingredients
Scale
1 pound spaghetti
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
1/4 cup butter, melted
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9-inch springform pan.
Cook spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain well and toss with melted butter. Set aside.
While the pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain off any excess grease.
Stir in minced garlic, marinara sauce, oregano, salt, and pepper into the beef mixture. Simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, beaten egg, Parmesan cheese, and parsley. Mix until smooth.
Press half of the cooked spaghetti into the bottom and slightly up the sides of the prepared springform pan to form a crust.
Spread the ricotta mixture evenly over the spaghetti crust.
Spoon half of the meat sauce over the ricotta layer. Sprinkle with 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese.
Top with the remaining spaghetti, pressing it down gently. Spoon the remaining meat sauce over the top layer of spaghetti.
Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese over the top.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are lightly browned.
Let the pie cool in the pan for 10 minutes before releasing the sides of the springform pan. Slice and serve warm.
Notes
For a make ahead pasta dish, assemble the pie completely, cover it, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking. Add 10 to 15 minutes to the bake time if cooking straight from the refrigerator.
