Ingredients
Scale
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup milk (whole or preferred type)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
Prepare the whipped topping: In a medium bowl, combine the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and cocoa powder.
Use a hand mixer or a whisk to beat the mixture until stiff peaks form. This creates your creamy chocolate topping. If using vanilla extract, add it during the last few seconds of mixing.
Warm the milk: Pour the milk into a small saucepan and heat over medium heat until hot but not boiling. Alternatively, microwave the milk until warm.
Assemble the drink: Pour the warm milk into your favorite mug.
Top generously: Spoon the prepared whipped chocolate topping over the warm milk.
Serve immediately and enjoy your indulgent hot cocoa upgrade.
Notes
For an iced version, use cold milk instead of warm milk.
You can substitute the cocoa powder and sugar with 3 tablespoons of chocolate syrup for a slightly different flavor profile.
This topping is excellent on coffee for a quick mocha treat.
